Since I've been exercising regularly...

1. I’ve lost forty plus pounds. 2. I have more energy. 3. I sleep much better. 4. I have way more confidence in myself. 5. I eat healthier. 6. My back pain has gone away. 7. I don’t get sick as much as I used to. 8. I’m a much happier person and nicer to be around. 9. I have a social life again. 10. I look and feel younger and Fabulous! I was reading an article in the October Shape which got me thinking about what exercising has done for me. I wanted to share it with you. I started exercising last September. These effects started a month after I started exercising. Except for the forty plus weight loss. I did however lose twenty pounds the first month. I'm so going to print this out to remind me why I exercise on the days I'm just not in the mood to.

Effective Planning and Goal Setting - Game ON!!

There are seven characteristics of effective planning and goal setting says Charles Platkin PH.D . Since my plan/goal is to do a ONE challenge a month for TWELVE months I thought I'd better follow these seven characteristics. 1. Specific : Be specific - Your goals should answer the questions how, when, where, and why. 2. Motivating : Pick a goal you are motivated to accomplish. 3. Achievable : Choose goals that are balanced, realistic, a set within an appropriate time frame. 4. Rewarding : The why. Understanding the why helps to establish an emotional connection to your goals that will help you through the rough times. 5. Tactical : Tactics involve setting a very detailed plan of action. Think ahead and plan it out. 6. Evaluated : Keep a personal journal (or blog post). Evaluate if you're on the right track. 7. Fear of Succeeding or Just Plain Laziness...

or Could It Be Both? This week I'm exploring the fear and how to squish it. We set our goal(s) with excitement, determination, and the plan of arriving to the finish line. But over time we lose the drive to continue, we lose focus, we get lazy. We've tasted a bit of success, we get comfortable, and we start to think this is good enough. I started reading Your Best Life Now, 90 Devotions for Living at Your Full Potential by Joel Osteen this morning. I've had this book for a couple years but I've never opened it.
